Saigon . . . old and new part 3
The thing about Ho Chi Minh City or affectionately known as Saigon by the older folks, it is as vibrant as it was before the war. People ambling through the narrow streets, cars and motorbikes whizzing by every cross junctions and roads. The sounds of their horns honking throughout the day and till the night!... The smell of food as you turn to every corner of the street, it is a bustling little city with its old world charm and friendly faces. Beneath all that frenzy, lies a saddened and exhausted city. A city that needs rejuvenation and new blood to create new things, to resurrect and exorcise its brutal past, to appease the vengeful spirits that will come out after the city folks rest. This is Saigon for you
There's so much for improvement. I hope the People's committee party of Vietnam will not forget their past, learn from their mistakes and preserve the tradition and culture so Vietnam will not lose its identity. It is speculated that Vietnam is going to be the new tiger of ASEAN... seems like it is becoming a self fulfilling prophecy, let's hope there's still old world charm amongst the concrete steel and glass jungles that's springing up rapidly as I blog...
I hope to come back.... I will definitely miss Saigon....
