Baby sitting with 2 kawai chans...
This weekend, I took a bit of a rest from the renovation and my weekend routine, I volunteered to help T.O to help babysit and play tour guide to 2 young japanese girls. Their names? 20 year old Ai chan and 17 year old Rui chan. Chan is not their surname but a japanese word for little sister. Their eldest sister, 22 year old Yui chan is somewhere in the land of the rising sun with her boyfriend. Ai chan is a studying in the University of Tokyo, majoring in Intnernational relations and cultural studies. Rui chan is a senior student in her High school. These girls spend their lives in Tokyo city and Yokohama. They have 2 nice apartments. T.O was asked to babysit the 2 girls as her friend had some important family matter to attend to.
So T.O arrived around 11 am to pick me up and we headed straight to KL's equivalent of Shibuya and Harajuku; Sungai Wang! Yep, we took the girls to have a walk about in Sungai Wang simply because they have the kind of right stuff to offer the girls... Well, sort of. When coming to meals, the girls have this penchant for noodles... We ordered wantan noodles and a small selection of Dim Sum at one of the nice restaurants in Sg. Wang. I guess the girls were hungry as they were very quiet. Actually, they are quite shy at first, but once the ice is broken through our passion for reading japanese comics (Manga) and watching Japanese cartoons (Animae), the girls began to perk up and became very chatty.
Ai being a university student was the one who could speak reasonable english. As for Rui, When ever Rui needs to communicate, she would dig out a small little computer that is a japanese/ english translation dictionary cum thesaurus and grammar. So throughout the whole day, we were speaking in a smattering of english and japanese. It was good for both parties as we took the opportunity to brush up our Japanese and the girls to brush up the Eigo (English in Japanese). Sometimes, we resort to using sign languages when we can't figure out a word. After walking endlessly in Sg. Wang, We headed to Pavilion.
At Pavilion, the girls did mentioned that our shopping mall was erm.. not as big as the ones back at their homes. However, they were impressed with the luxury brands we have at the Pavilion. It's a no brainer as they were very selective of their shopping. They told us that rich old folks in Japan shopped at Shinjuku and Roppongi, whereas the teenagers and young adults find the streets of shibuya and harajuku more happening and their favorite hangout. We hang out at the 'Cat walk' sipping our chai lattes, green tea latte and coffee as we watch 'happy' people sashaying along the walk.
These 2 girls do catch a lot of attention. Maybe it's due to their flawless silky smooth white skin. And their sense of fashion, they stood out like a sore thumb in the middle of the shopping mall... Guys were just drooling at them and then giving me and T.O a kind of look. . .
We head to Bangsar in the afternoon for an appointment with the fishes... T.O made reservations for them to try out the fish spa at Garra Rufa. They were squealing with delight and they told us that it felt 'ticklish'... After half an hour of relaxing with their feets submerged and the fishes had a good meal, they did indicate that their skin felt really soft and smooth. Hmm... Maybe I shld go for these kind of fish spa therapy. . .
Next up was a pedicure and manicure for both the sisters at Soong Ai Ling's shop. At last, we could ditch the 2 girls and have some breather. Dinner was hokkien mee, stingray and some satay (called yakiniku in japanese) at Kota Damansara. By the time we're done, it was already 9 pm. T.O sent me home and I felt very tired. Odd enough, I also felt old. . . Maybe because it's their vibrant energy and I just can't keep up with them. But one consolation though, because we share immense passion in watching animae, the girls said I may look 30 plus something but I am actually 18 yrs old at heart.... That's nice of them. . . Oh yes, if u wondered how come there's no pictures, that's because I was too tired to take photos... Yeah... Blogger boo boo no 1. SHOULD Take pictures!!!! Anyways, I hope T.O has taken a picture with them for posterity... I could ask her for permission to put it up here on me blog... see how...
Sunday was just bumming at home... to tired to think as I was drained by them little energetic geishas!!!! But I was happy to have met them and learned a lot about the younger generations of today's Japan.
