I found inner peace!!!! (Upekka Cafe)
My car is long due for its servicing. So I hauled it up at my regular mechanic in Section 17. Just next door, is a nice quaint cafe. It looked bright and friendly. It has wifi services (free!) so while waiting for my car to be serviced, I plonked myself here and begin to blog this post.

It's called Upekka. It means Inner Peace in sanskrit. Made some inquiries about the owners, Uppeka is a family business, 2 siblings, one's a buddhist, the other a catholic. The sister was manning the cafe, her name is Janice. Nice pleasant lady. I looked a the Menu. Voila! They have french and local cuisine. Wow! A french cafe in the middle of Section 17. Who would have thought about that! What are the chances of stumbling into a nice french local cafe???? My lucky day! Spoke with Janice, they have a french and a local chef!!!! WOW!
Looking at the menu, they have a wide variety of french and local selections. The menu is easy on the eyes. For starters, they have Ratatouille platter, Mousseline Potato, Mushroom soup, Lala Chowder and Creamy corn soup. Their main course meals are tempting.. Rack of Lamb, Tenderloin beef, pan fried with green beans and carrots, Grilled salmon and salads, traditional fish & chips, Chicken Kiev, The usual chicken chop, Chicken Facon Chasseur, Achis Parmentier (French for Shepherd's Pie) and the usual pasta dishes.
As for local food, do expect Hokkien Mee, Wat Tan Hor (flat rice noodles), Lo Shie Fun, Fried Tang Hoon, Ala Carte Dishes. Rice dishes and soupy noodles. The price range is very reasonable. French meals cost from RM 7.90 for soups to RM 26.90 for the Beef. Local dishes varies from RM 5.00 to 5.90. Drinks are fairly reasonable too. They also have daily set lunch and dinners. Too bad I'm on a vege sabbitical, I'll wait for my lent to end and I'll be trying the rack of lamb and the beef! I may try the ratatouille..... for now.
Now, this place is tucked inside Section 17. So if you're in the neighborhood and wanted to have a nice quiet read or a place to blog and surf the web, this is a nice sanctum for you to feed your appetite. Afternoons are quiet so you can sit yourself nicely and let time stop for a while. Enjoy the quiet moments as you sip your ipoh white coffee and relax as you hear the birds chirping and the nice breeze blowing by. Indeed a nice place to find your inner peace. I found mine...
